To register, you must have already completed the FIRST DAY with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Dept. This is the SECOND DAY of the NY State 18hr course.

If you are a Steuben County resident and have already completed the first half of the NYS course with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Dept, then this course is specifically designed to complete the NYS mandated training course material.

THIS is the course you need to complete as part of the application process for the NY State Pistol License/Permit under the "Concealed Carry Improvement Act". Bear in mind that this is a NY State mandated course. If you are a new applicant, you must complete this course prior to submitting your application.

Each participant will have to complete a written exam and pass with a minimum of 80% 

The course tuition includes the use of a training handgun and ammunition to complete the live fire exercises and the qualification. All handguns will be in a .22 caliber.  

Those who successfully pass the exam and qualification will be issued a certificate of completion to include in their application packet.

Please note: if you have a Felony or domestic violence conviction, are a drug user, a fugitive from justice, or a DWI conviction within the past 5 years, or would otherwise be prohibited from accessing a handgun, you would not be allowed to attend nor apply. Materials required:

None. All classroom materials, eye and ear protection, a handgun for the live fire exercises, and the ammunition. No extra fees for this course. You would still be responsible for your county's application fees.

 Prerequisites:

1. Successful attendance and completion of the Steuben County Sheriff's Day 1 course material. (Must bring proof of completion)
2. You must not fall under any of the 'prohibited person' criteria. If you have a Felony or domestic violence conviction, had a DWI within 5 years, or have any other legal prohibitions to firearms ownership, do not register.
3. If you arrive smelling of marijuana, alcohol, or we suspect that you are under the influence of ANY substance, under state and federal law, we cannot allow you to participate.
