Rochester Personal Defense

Ladies: Do you want to learn how to shoot a handgun but don’t know where to go to learn? Does your husband/boyfriend/significant other have a firearm or pistol in the home that you do not know how to use? Do you want to see how much fun the shooting sports can be? 

We have taken our Handgun Basics course and merged it with the USCCA’s Basic Handgun course to use the best of both courses! 

Come train with the area’s first and most successful Ladies Only training team. There are other places out there that have “Ladies or Women’s only” type classes, but you should come and see why our instructors have that certain approach that makes us the top trainers and educators in the area. 

We all know that there are certain things that spouses or significant others should not teach each other or discuss, right? They usually include: driving lessons, politics, wallpapering or painting, and firearms. Why not come out and learn from some easy-going, approachable, competent, friendly, and non-testosterone charged instructors? 

Learning to handle a pistol is one of the most satisfying, empowering things that you can do. 

In this LIVE FIRE course, we will answer important questions regarding your handgun and how it works, we will teach you how to shoot safely, efficiently and effectively, we will talk about the laws of having a gun and more! 

This LIVE FIRE course is taught by highly skilled and experienced instructors who love their work. They all know the importance of starting out right; and they all want to help you build a solid foundation so that you will be able to fully enjoy the shooting sports for a long time. 

You do not need a holster for this course. The Handgun Basics course is all about teaching you how to shoot the handgun. Then, in the Concealed Carry 1, or CCW1, you will learn how to carry, draw, and shoot. 

Successful completion of this course will allow you to attend the Concealed Carry 1 course.

THIS COURSE CAN BE USED AS PROOF OF LIVE FIRE TRAINING WHEN APPLYING FOR A FLORIDA NON RESIDENT PERMIT

For this class, you will need the following items:

• A NY State Pistol Permit
• A working firearm (Must be listed on your NY Permit)

IMPORTANT NOTE: As of July 10, 2025, any Sig-Sauer P320 variant (m17, m18, 320, compact, x carry, legion, etc) is banned from any training course, competition, or event that Rochester Personal Defense, LionsPride Training Group, or DFJ is conducting or has purview over.

If you have a Sig-Sauer P320 or variant, I apologize if this affects you, but I cannot risk the safety of attendees should an uncommanded discharge occur. (defined as the pistol firing without the trigger being pressed)

If a student with a P320 or variant shows up at a class, they cannot participate in the course with that pistol. They are welcome to borrow a different brand/model from another attendee, but they will not be allowed to use their Sig-Sauer P320 variant pistol in the course.

• 100 rounds of ammunition(MINIMUM)
• Eye and ear protection
• Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear (You will be outdoors for part of the course)
• A hat with a brim
• A notebook
• Water, snacks, and a lunch.
