New Jersey Non-Resident CCW Course

The New Jersey Non-Resident CCW Course is designed for individuals who are not residents of New Jersey but wish to obtain a New Jersey concealed carry permit. This class provides practical, comprehensive training in a supportive environment, covering topics such as firearm safety, handling, and New Jersey's specific laws and regulations.
This 3-hour course requires a valid New York State or New York City Pistol License for enrollment. Included in the session is the required New Jersey classroom lecture followed by live fire practice, and then, the required New Jersey live fire qualification.
This is not a course for the new shooter. You must be fully familiar with your handgun’s operation and overall firearm safety rules, practices, and drawing from a concealment holster.
After meeting the New Jersey qualification requirements, you can apply online through the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) portal. The application requires you to provide four references and finger printing through IdentoGo. The entire process does not require you to travel to New Jersey.
The tuition includes ONLY the classroom portion and the live fire qualification. Not included are the application and fingerprinting fees.
New Jersey requires you to renew your permit every 2 years. Fees and background investegation is the same as intial application, however, you DO NOT have to be fingerprinted.
At the time of your application, you will need the information on ALL handguns you intend to carry in the State of New Jersey (make, model, caliber, serial number). If you do not yet own a handgun, do not apply.
Key Topics Covered:
- Handling Your Handgun: Learn the basics of safely handling a handgun, including proper grip, stance, and trigger control.
- Shooting Fundamentals: Review the core principles of shooting, including aiming, breathing, and trigger discipline, to ensure accuracy and control.
- Firearms Safety: An in-depth review of the four important rules of gun safety, as well as situational safety protocols, to prevent accidents.
- Range Safety: Learn range etiquette, reinforce proper muzzle discipline, and hands on safe firearms handing.
- Use of Deadly Force: Gain a clear understanding of the legal and ethical implications of using deadly force, including what constitutes self-defense and the laws surrounding the use of a firearm in an emergency.
- Drawing/Presenting: Learn the proper methods for safely drawing and presenting your firearm from a concealed carry position, with a focus on speed, accuracy, and safety.
